Prior to the Twins’ 3-1 win over the A’s on Monday, manager Rocco Baldelli discussed shortstop Carlos Correa’s status since he went on the injured list with a bruised right middle finger.
MLB.com originally reported Correa was likely to return on Tuesday, but that is not expected to happen today. Baldelli did say Correa is “very close to returning,” adding, “I think we could see him out here this series,” as reported by Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Reliever Jharel Cotton was designated for assignment, which cleared a spot for Dylan Bundy, who is set to start Tuesday’s game in Oakland. The series vs. the A’s ends Wednesday.
Correa was placed on the IL on May 10 (retroactive to May 6), a day after he exited during the seventh inning of a 5-3 loss to the Orioles after he was hit on the finger by a pitch.
Correa is hitting .255/.320/.372 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 24 games this season.
