Jeff McNeil isn’t known for his power, but when a heckler took aim at his lack of pop Monday night in San Francisco, the Mets second baseman responded in the most perfect way possible.
“Hey, McNeil! Work out those legs! You’ve got no power — no power, McNeil!” the fan shouted when McNeil came to the plate in the top of the eighth inning.
McNeil silenced the heckler with one swing, crushing a 408-foot blast to right field for a two-run homer.
It was the first dinger since April 8 for McNeil, who is hitting .311/.364/.444 with two homers over 165 plate appearances for the first-place Mets in 2022.
