NEW YORK — Aaron Judge blasted his Major League-leading 21st home run and Luis Severino twirled seven scoreless innings of one-hit ball as the Yankees won their fifth straight game, besting the Tigers, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
Judge’s first-inning homer off Tigers starter Beau Brieske was the first leadoff dinger of his career, coming one night after the slugging outfielder became the Majors’ first player to reach 20 long balls this season.
Anthony Rizzo also homered for the second time in as many games, connecting for a sixth-inning long ball off Brieske.
Severino walked one and struck out 10 in a 92-pitch effort. The Yankees improved to 22-7 at home this season, the best home record in the Majors.
