HOUSTON — After blowing a late lead to the Mariners for the second game in a row, the Astros rallied for a win Sunday afternoon at Minute Maid Park.
Yordan Alvarez bounced an RBI single into left field to score automatic runner Mauricio Dubón from third base for the winning run to send the Astros to a walk-off 3-2 win over the Mariners in the final regular-season meeting between the two clubs.
The Astros (67-36) took three of four games from the Mariners (55-48) in the series, stretching their lead atop the AL West to 12 games. Houston won 12 of 19 games against Seattle this season and is 35-20 against division rivals.
Astros starter Jake Odorizzi held Seattle to two singles and two walks in seven scoreless innings and was in line for the win before Jesse Winker hit a two-run homer in the eighth off reliever Ryne Stanek. Héctor Neris set down the Mariners in order in the top of the 10th to set up Alvarez’s walk-off hit.
